Healthy Ageing: A Global Commitment, A Shared Responsibility
UN Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021–2030): Midpoint Progress Report
As we mark the International Day of Older Persons, ESCEO is pleased to highlight the recently released midpoint progress report of the United Nations Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021–2030), prepared by the World Health Organization (WHO) in coordination with the United Nations system.
The report provides an important assessment of global progress towards creating a world where everyone can live a longer, healthier and more fulfilling life.
Encouraging advances have been made. An increasing number of countries are adopting policies and legislation to combat ageism, strengthen integrated and long-term care, and foster environments that support older people.
However, significant challenges remain. Gaps in financing, data collection and policy implementation continue to hinder progress, highlighting the urgent need for stronger commitments and coordinated action.
